The harm of not installing inverters on cranes

The inverter has an extremely important role in the process of operating and controlling the crane. The inverter is a device that changes the frequency of the current placed on the coil inside the motor and thereby can control the engine speed steplessly, without using mechanical gearboxes.

Not installing inverters for gantry cranes has a lot of harm that you have to worry about, girder beams are twisted, causing grid pressure drop when starting, .... The girder control system consists of two main parts: the control of the lifting and lowering crane and the control of moving the girder.

The moving of the girder crane is carried out by 2 engines pulling the moving wheel system located at the bottom of the girder bridge. The capacity of this crane moving motor depends on the weight of the girder. These two motors use common power and operate / stop simultaneously through the system of buttons on the control.

The above operation has many disadvantages as well as harms:

When two motors are powered directly from the 3-phase / 380V grid and simultaneously, resulting in:

+) The girder will be twisted, causing danger to the operators.

+) Reduce the mechanical life of bridge girders

+) Electric energy is consumed more by starting current than rated working current.

+) Causing grid pressure drop at startup, affecting the quality of the electricity network for the whole system.

+) The girder will vibrate when the engine stops and starts, which reduces the life of gear systems and bearings.

+) The cost of maintaining the girder will increase.

The solution of installing inverters for gantry cranes will help solve the above mentioned problems. When installing the crane, we should always install the inverter to avoid damage later.
