Notes when carrying out maintenance of the hoist

In order for the hoist to always work well, it is extremely important to maintain the hoist during use. However, this process needs to be strictly carried out according to a certain process in order to ensure that the person performing and the quality of the work is high.
Here are a few notes for customers during the maintenance of the hoist in general, and the electric chain hoist in particular.

Notes when carrying out maintenance of the hoist

1.Maintenance of the hoist

1.1. Hoist maintenance frequency

The maintenance frequency of the hoist is proportional to the frequency of use. If using the hoist every day, it is necessary to clean and maintain the electric hoist and hand hoist every day immediately after use. If rarely used, the frequency of maintenance decreases, you need to perform routine maintenance. Particularly in case, for a long time not in use, in order to prevent the machine parts from rusting, you must regularly clean and oil parts such as reducers, cables, conveyor chains, etc.

1.2. Periodic maintenance of the hoist

You need to keep in mind the periodic maintenance time for each part of the hoist, it is best to save the following content we share in your notebook:

*Cables and chains once a month

- Lubricating oil for cables and chains

- Check the condition: Make sure the cables are wound evenly on the reel, not overlapping. The conveyor chain is engaged with the pulley.

The cable is in good condition, still usable, ie not worn, not excessively rusted, the number of broken cables does not exceed 6 strands/braided step. The chain is in good condition when it is not worn, cracked, or deformed excessively.

In case the cable or chain does not meet the above requirements, you need to replace it.

*Electric motor every 3 months

- Cleaning electric motor for electric cable hoist and electric chain hoist.

- Check the phase connection, grounding of the motor.

- Check the operation of the thermal relay, make sure that when the motor is overheated, the trigger relay will automatically cut off the power.

- Check and re-tighten the screws.

*Brake every 4-5 months

- Clean the brake surface from dirt, oil.

- Check brake pads. If the brake pads are excessively worn, they should be replaced immediately to ensure the effectiveness of the brakes.

*Hook every 4-5 months

- Lubricate the bearing of the hook.

- Check condition: Hook is not cracked, deformed. The wear of the hook should not exceed 10%.

*Puly or mourning every 4-5 months

- Lubrication

- Check condition: Puly is not cracked, excessively worn. Allowable wear of load chain contact surface is <=5mm, pulley wall <=1.5mm

*Electric Winch every 6 months

- Lubrication

- Check the condition: The part of the wheel in contact with the rail is not worn more than 5mm, the wheel body is not worn more than 5mm.

1.3. Daily maintenance of hoist

The hoist is used regularly, the frequency of use is dense, in addition to periodic maintenance, you need to maintain the hoist daily. The tasks you need to do include the following:

Before operating the hoist

To ensure safety, before putting the rope or chain hoist into lifting and lowering, you need to test the machine without load, the purpose is to check whether the machine's parts are working properly.

Make sure the crane hook, chain, cable, electric motor, brake, etc. are in good condition, not deformed or damaged, causing unsafety while lifting.

Re-tighten the screws, bolts, and connections between the hoist and the runner.

Especially with electric hoists, you need to check to install the travel limiter properly.

Because, if the travel limit device is installed incorrectly, the chain or cable will be pulled up and down beyond the limit, causing an accident due to the crane hook getting stuck in the escalator or the goods being lowered too close. ground, causing a collision resulting in damage.

Check by, when the hook is about to reach the limit position, slow down to avoid damage. When it reaches the limit, see if the machine stops on its own, if not readjust the limiter immediately.

After operating the hoist

- Clean the hoist immediately after use. Cleaning the machine after use will help prolong the life of the machine. You need to use a dry cloth to wipe off the dirt on the body of the device. Then, use kerosene to clean stubborn stains like grease.

- Lubricate easily worn positions such as bearings and gears.

- Storing the hoist: Small, light hoists such as hand-pulled chain hoists, hand-shakers or hand-cranked cable hoists, you can easily move them into storage for storage in boxes or on high shelves to avoid mold. As for the large, heavy hoists, which you cannot move, usually keep the machine in place. Therefore, when choosing an installation location, you need to pay attention to choose a dry, covered place. If the machine works outdoors, you need to shield the hoist from rain and dust.

2. Notes when carrying out maintenance of the hoist

Notes when carrying out maintenance of the hoist

2.1. Safe work before performing maintenance

- Stop operating all machines and engines, ensuring to prevent restarting during maintenance.

- Close the clamp on the rotating part before starting the repair.

- All rotating parts must be stopped

- Keep the machine away from flammable materials.

- Turn off the power supply before starting work.

- Must wear seat belt when servicing.

- Check that there are no leaks or gaps at the joints.

- The manufacturer's instructions must be followed.

- Close all protective devices and close all covers after work is done.

2.2. General provisions

- Periodic inspection of the hoist: At least once a month.

- Check for troubleshooting: Must quickly determine the location and nature of damage, remedial measures and determine the ability to handle.

- Maintenance of electrical equipment: Follow the manufacturer's regulations. Do periodically coordinate with the periodic maintenance schedule of equipment.

2.3. Requirements for staff to manage, operate and repair equipment

- The staff who manage, operate and repair equipment are required to understand and understand the following procedures:
- Operating power stations and electrical equipment
- Electrical safety engineering
- Numbering equipment in the power system of the plant
- Technical features, operating procedures and equipment maintenance.

Currently, hoists are devices that are no longer strange to consumers because of their extremely convenient applications in daily life. Hoist has many types such as electric chain hoist, electric cable hoist, manual hoist, electric hoist… It helps to reduce labor force and limit labor accidents. Any device, after a period of use, will have problems. Therefore, periodic maintenance is extremely important to ensure worker safety and at the same time to ensure that the equipment is always most effective when used. However, to avoid risks during hoist maintenance, it is necessary to strictly follow the principles and regulations.
