Each casting method will have advantages and disadvantages, so casting engineers try to promote the advantages, overcome the disadvantages of each method, to meet the complex needs of the market is fast, Many, good, cheap. Below, please present some high-tech casting methods applied in the world:
High-tech casting methods
In pressure casting, aluminum alloy is most used compared to all other alloys. In the United States alone, pressure cast aluminum annually costs up to $ 2.5 billion. Particularly pressure cast aluminum accounts for twice the ratio of all other methods combined.
Pressure casting is very suitable for mass casting, large quantities, small volume details, can often weigh up to 5kg but there is also a case of casting for parts weighing up to 50kg but very high cost. Pressure casting has the advantage of minimizing right and wrong, smooth surface, ensuring uniform thickness of castings.
Casting of metal molds, also known as permanent casting, is a casting method that, as the name implies, is made of metal like pressure casting. Due to the long service life of the mold, many times, it is also called permanent mold. Casting metal molds is suitable for castings larger than pressure casting, about 10kg, of course can be higher, 20kg even 50kg, and comes with a higher price.
Casting the metal mold, the force to push the metal into the mold is the gravity of the liquid metal, with the metal mold element so it will have a fast cooling speed. Therefore, metal casting gives us a product with very high mechanical properties, a more perfect casting, but also applies to metals with high flowability and resistance to hot cracking.
Fire casting can also be considered a type of sand casting. Engineers have to design a plastic polysterene pattern, going exactly like casting. Samples are put in a mold and then poured into dry sand, covered with plastic on top, then vacuumed. When the metal is poured into the correct part, fireproof, polysterene also burns and the metal replaces the position of the sample. The ash portion of the fire sample is raised on the surface of the bean sprouts.
Technology to make thin shell mold is made of wax material. The wax is processed into a mold-like pattern, then dipped into a suspension of sand, clay, and some additives, thus having a coating covering the sample, lifting the sample, sprinkling a layer Fine sand, dried and then re-immersed into the suspension mixture, then sprinkle with fine sand. Doing so 4-5 times, when the crust is about 10 - 20mm, drying, sintering the mold at a temperature of 600-800oC, the wax will melt, and we get a thin shell mold. In thin mold technology, it is called precision casting because the wax pattern is made just like casting. This method applies to small, large quantities.
Centrifugal casting is another form of putting liquid metal into a mold. The mold is made of metal, placed on a centrifugal casting machine. When the mold is spinning, the filling system is pre-designed, pouring the metal into the mold. With centrifugal rotation will limit the thickness of castings as designed, with the support of centrifugal force, the metal will tighten. However, centrifugal casting will only apply to circular details such as drum form. But in return, the mechanical properties of castings will be significantly improved because of the centrifugal force and the metal mold, so the organization is small.
This casting method is being widely applied in factories especially with aluminum casting plants, due to its effectiveness.
Aluminum alloy is poured into a special mold system: Molds with cool water, cast products are bars, aluminum plates of arbitrary size (up to 200 x 1000mm) following continuous casting line are continuous rolling, stamping lines.
In addition, other methods such as plaster casting, flowing mold casting are also applied to aluminum alloys with the above details, depending on the condition of the plant as well as the customer's requirements.
