Lai Chau Hydropower Plant, operated by Son La Hydropower Company, is built on the top of the Da River, located in Nam Nhun Town, Nam Nhun District, Lai Chau Province. This is a hydroelectric project that not only plays an important role in generating electricity and supplying water for the Red River Delta in the dry season, but also creates opportunities for socio-economic development in Lai Chau and Dien Bien provinces, ensuring national defense and security in the Northwest region.

According to the leader of Son La Hydroelectric Company, in 2019, Lai Chau Hydropower Plant (NMTĐ) produced 2.69 billion kWh, reaching 100.11% of the assigned plan. Since its commissioning on July 15, the plant has contributed more than 16.7 billion kWh to the national electricity system.
